Southlanders on Tuesday 26th of June helped to open the conversation surrounding one of the country’s most prevalent diseases.
Around 60 people participated in the Bowl for Bowel Cancer fundraising event in Invercargill as part of our Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Organiser Andie Gentle decided to run this event to raise funds for BCNZ, but also encourage awareness and discussion for the cause.
Emma Bell and Maree Duncan from the National Bowel Screening Programme joined them for the night, sharing important information about bowel cancer’s symptoms and also the screening program that started in the Southland District Health Board in April 2018.
