In July 2015, Sarah Lambourne was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer at the far-too-young age of 38. Fortunately, after 12 months of treatment, she is now fit, healthy and cancer free – and passionate about helping to ensure others don’t go through what she did.
As a Bowel Cancer New Zealand ambassador, Sarah is now on a mission to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms and to educate Kiwis about preventing it in the first place. She’s determined to break down the barriers of this embarrassing topic and also to work to dispel the myth that bowel cancer is an ‘old man’s’ disease. As Sarah knows only too well, it can happen to anyone, at any age.
