Our GP campaign: don’t sit on your symptoms

Bowel cancer is the second highest cause of cancer death in New Zealand and it can affect anyone, old or young. This awareness campaign targeted doctors around the country, reminding them to be vigilant about checking for bowel cancer in patients presenting with any of the following symptoms:

  • bleeding from the bowel
  • changes in bowel motions
  • anaemia
  • abdominal pain or lumps,
  • and/or unexplained fatigue or weight loss.

Note: The signs of bowel cancer can come and go, so if you experience any of the above symptoms, don’t delay – see your doctor as soon as possible.

Read. Learn. Share.

No one likes to talk about bowel cancer, but the bottom line is, the more you know, the better the chances of beating it. So check out our helpful blogs and tips on preventing this silent killer – and read the stories of Kiwis affected by bowel cancer.
