CottonSofts now lists potential bowel cancer symptoms on the brand’s new packaging to save lives!
A New Zealand first – this ground-breaking initiative uses the loveable CottonSofts brand to spread awareness of the risks associated with bowel cancer, for example, the new CottonSofts Posh Double Length 3ply 6 pack will be one of the first packs with bowel cancer symptoms printed on the back of the packaging.
In association with Bowel Cancer NZ, CottonSofts, who has been a key sponsor of Bowel Cancer New Zealand for nine years, has created this innovation to provide consumers with a regular reminder of bowel cancer symptoms – encouraging New Zealanders to get checked at the first signs.
New Zealand has one of the worst rates of bowel cancer in the world so symptom recognition is essential. As a brand, CottonSofts have taken this very seriously, jumping at the opportunity to create awareness and encourage Kiwis to get tested. The use of its brand reach is a massive win for New Zealand and could have a direct positive impact on bowel cancer
statistics in New Zealand.
Why CottonSofts initiative is such a big deal:
- Over 3000 Kiwis are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year, and over 1200 per year will die from this disease.
- 350 of these diagnoses are people under 50 years old.
- It is estimated that one in every 18 Kiwis will develop bowel cancer in their lifetime.
The good news is more than 90% of cases can be treated successfully if caught early. While bowel cancer is more common in those over 50 years old, it does affect people of all ages. You are never too young to get your symptoms checked. CottonSofts branding will be a repeated reminder to consumers “Don’t Sit on Your Symptoms”.
Bowel Cancer NZ ambassador and New Zealand sailing great Dean Barker is a bowel cancer survivor. He recently shared his story to create awareness of the disease and to encourage Kiwis to see their doctor if they notice any changes. “This is an important initiative by CottonSofts to encourage Kiwis to learn the symptoms, and I urge people to see their GP if they have any concerns.”
