WHAT WE DO
Workplace wellness seminars to help beat bowel cancer
The more New Zealanders we can reach with bowel cancer education, the better the chances of detecting it earlier – and saving lives. That’s why we provide workplace wellness seminars about the risks and symptoms of bowel cancer at your workplace or online.
Bowel cancer kills too many New Zealanders
Bowel cancer is the second highest cause of cancer death in New Zealand. It kills over 1,200 Kiwis a year (as many as breast and prostate cancer combined), and it can affect anyone at any age.
Early detection is critical, which is why we offer wellness seminars to workplaces all around New Zealand. The more people who know the early signs and symptoms, the more we can reduce these horrific statistics.
Keep your workplace working with our bowel cancer education seminars
Bowel cancer affects New Zealanders of all ages, genders and ethnicities. On average, 8 Kiwis are diagnosed with bowel cancer, and 3 of us die of it every single day. Raising awareness of this deadly but largely preventable disease is a proactive way to look after your employee health.
As a nationwide, patient-focused charity, Bowel Cancer NZ is committed to reducing the impact of bowel cancer in New Zealand. We do this by educating communities, raising awareness, supporting those living with bowel cancer and their whānau, and through advocacy and research.
We can tailor our education programme to suit your organisation and employees as an essential part of your workplace health and wellness programme.

Victoria Thompson, Educator & Support Nurse
An experienced Registered Nurse with a background in palliative care, Victoria Thompson has the important role of helping patients and whānau through nursing support, advice and education to increase awareness of bowel cancer.
Victoria is a ‘people person’ who loves helping others so she’s well suited to running our workplace wellness seminars. “Some people find it embarrassing talking about this stuff,” she says. “However, the more we all spread the word about the symptoms of this deadly disease, the more lives we can save.”
“Thank you, Victoria, for your outstanding efforts! You were an absolute pleasure to deal with and a superstar in your field as an educator and specialist support nurse for Bowel Cancer NZ. I am so pleased we decided to bring Colin the inflatable colon to Napier. He generated lots of conversation and definitely made the sessions interactive.”
