Bowel Cancer NZ Supporters

My connection with bowel cancer is very personal. At 38, I was fit and healthy, and diagnosed with bowel cancer. I was treated with the standard protocol of surgery followed by 6 months of chemotherapy. However, at a follow up CT scan one year post-surgery the cancer was still there, happily thriving on the outside of my bowel.

At present I’m being treated conservatively with surgery. No one knows if this will be successful, but it is hoped it will be. As well as surgery, I’m very proactive in my approach to how I live life and I am investigating a wide variety of complementary and alternative treatments while working alongside my surgeon.

The “Move your Butt” challenge is so important to me as I believe that exercise, along with good nutrition, is one of the driving factors to preventing bowel cancer, and many other lifestyle diseases. Everyone needs to move their butt for at least 30 minutes a day. Join me as I raise awareness through the month of June on my fundraising adventures and activities and different ways to Move your Butt!
